I don’t think there will be an actual shooting war with ISIS. The reasoning behind that is because the President is not sure how to proceed and Congress isn’t either. Many in congress want to have a say in what the President decides to do, which can hinder them in coming up with a concise strategy. There are also Acts that would allow the President to proceed but they are not sure if it would apply to the current situation with ISIS. I think that perhaps all these issues will hinder any action against ISIS than what is already happening. If the threat to us is getting bigger, I think we should retaliate but only once a plan of action has been fully thought out and serves as the best option. ISIS is a definite threat to Americans here on the mainland and anywhere ISIS is where there are Americans, there followers can be anywhere and Americans will always be at risk.
There is definitely an issue that there is no plan. In my humble opinion, I don’t think that it matters that there is no cohesive plan yet because you don’t want to rush into anything and have it go wrong. It is an obvious issue with Congress and some Americans that the President has no strategy to deal with ISIS and while that is a genuine concern, it doesn’t look like the President wants to rush into another war. I feel that the President would have to deal with negative criticism no matter what; if he had a plan or didn’t—there would still be those who would be unhappy. I don’t think the President should have been vocal about not having a strategy to deal with ISIS because it makes the US look lost on the issue. I don’t think the President should be vocal if he had a strategy either; there is another way to answer the question without specifying the lack of a plan or the existence of a plan.
