There has been an increase in the number of Juvenile being tried in Adult courts. This increase has made many parties interested with the concern to research possible reasons behind the issue. Varying reasons have been raised that contrast in the sense that some have argued for and supported the case while others have been against the phenomenon. However, in this paper I present my opinion about Juvenile waivers to adult courts.
My view is that the process should be encouraged to continue among the many states. However, it is relevant for a lot of precaution to be taken and not all the cases should be taken to adult courts. Juveniles are for the ones who committed serious crimes, only that caused possible threat to life such as incidences involving firearms (Myers, 2010). In the recent past, a lot of shooting in school has been observed where life and property have been destroyed, and some of teens have been involved. My belief is that these teens normally know what they are doing and the repercussions of their acts. This idea will help protect the community in one way or the other. The process will instill fear to offenders and in one, way regulate them and thus reinforce community safety. Parents and guardians will also take responsibilities and control their kids so that they do not become victimized by the incidence.
In such a case, the process waives part that treats offenders being treated as a minor. There exist a few reasons pointed out as the drawback of the concept such as a possibility of wrong parenting contributing to bad behavior among the teens (Martin, 2011). The background of the kid might be questionable due to the possibility of having a congested prison. This is because adults cannot be taken to juvenile prison increasing pressure to already stretched facilities. Possible abuse of juvenile by adults in the event, they are imprisoned together. This is because teens are weak in the body and most cannot fight back r resist in the event being tried to be abused Juveniles are seen as not mature, physically and mentally (Snyder & Sickmund, 2008). Also, most teens being in the adolescent stage that comes with a lot of changes physically and mentally, they might have slip and caused a problem, but they have an opportunity to rectify and change.
