Kesha’s Concert Review Essay

Kesha’s concert at Harrah’s in Atlantic City was poor. Her costume almost matched the curtain behind the stage, making it a bad color combination. Also, she was very scantily-clad, and her appearance was inappropriate, something that took away from the quality of her music. In addition, her music, although having a very good dance beat, was difficult to understand. That is, the lyrics were hard to discern. Whether this was due to the poor audio quality at the venue or due to her lack of singing ability is hard to determine. It appeared that the crowd liked her performance. Much of the time she appeared either intoxicated, or on drugs of some sort. Again, this may have affected her voice.
At one point, she and her small band performed a new song called “Dinosaur”, an offbeat type of dance song which had clichéd lyrics. Although not a big Kesha fan, I endured her act, but found that that was all it was: an act. I did not sense any integrity or legitimacy in this particular performer’s repertoire. However, she seemed to be able to win over the large “standing room only” crowd. Overall, her attitude seemed arrogant, and diva-like, as if she was very self-important. This attitude was disconcerting. Her band appeared lackluster, but the drum rhythm was up-tempo, sounding professional. However, the poor singing combined with even poorer dancing made the show unappealing. Simply put, the costume she wore, was raunchy. After all is said and done, this performance was a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, many of the elements of this performance could have been changed, as the wardrobe, audio quality, and overall attitude could have stood improvement.
