Kim Jong-un is Korea’s darling leader. He is called by all sorts of praises; "The greatest-ever commander, a great person born of heaven, great successor and an outstanding leader". Hes is both a political and a military leader. Kim Jong-un is the son of Kim Jong-ill, formally a North Korean military leader, and Ko Yong-hee, an opera singer. After the death of his father, Kim Jong-un succeeded him as the new Korean leader. He is estimated to be about 29 or 30 years as no one is sure of his exact date and year of birth. He loves basketball and dancing. Despite sanctions, and the disapproval of the testing of nuclear weapons by the international community, Kim Jong-un has continued the programs and tested a number of the nuclear weapons. He is determined to continue the nuclear programs in Korea despite all the calls to cease their production. In this paper, I am going to talk about Kim jong-un’s leadership and how he continuously issues threats on the U.S. despite their plea for peace talks.
While Kim Jong-un is praised for being a great leader, such as to foster peaceful co-existence with his neighbors and the world in general, his continued persistence in the development of nuclear weapons undermines his purported quest for peaceful co-existence as it appears that he is preparing for war. His development of nuclear weapons threatens the very existence of peace as the intentions for their creation are not well stated to demystify the negative allegations. His enthusiasm and stubborn nature has fueled his quest in accomplishing what he intends to do. The North Korean country had agreed to halt the nuclear testing programs but he ordered its continuation and issued threats to the United States when they tried to stop him. He is a leader who is stubborn and issues threats openly. His war ambitions are threatening the whole world and he seems to have no reservations for humanity. Even though he gives reasons that he is continuing the programs so as to break the economic sanctions imposed on North Korea, the programs are still a great threat to the whole world.
Kim Jong-un rules North Korea by dictatorship. He does things his own way without thinking much over the consequences. There has been a report of human rights violation that he has been connected to. Kim Jong-un kills people who defects from his rule and he does it through public executions. Furthermore, he has been sending people to political camps where they are tortured which is gross violation of the human rights. He does everything he can to strengthen his military credentials by all means.
Kim Jong-un is a secretive and mysterious leader. In the past weeks, he has been issuing nuclear war threats to the Unite States yet he is not seen in the public. He has been branded the "strange hermit King" since he issues threats out of the public’s view. His absence from the public leaves people wondering whether he is serious with the threats or it is just an intimidation strategy to the U.S. The fact that no one really understands him heightens his mysterious nature. His next move is being waited for in anticipation. Threatening messages only serve to increase fear and uncertainty as the moment he intends to attack is not yet known.
Kim Jong-un cannot be viewed as a good leader because what he does will impact the whole world negatively. The manufacturing of nuclear weapons will increase terrorism around the globe which will lead to the death of many people. Furthermore, it leads to global warming which is currently a major concern. By issuing threats, he is putting his citizens, and the U.S. citizens at risk. If war erupts between the three countries, the citizens will suffer the consequences. As much as he is viewed as "The greatest-ever commander", he is not a good leader. Good leaders care about the consequences of their actions.
In conclusion, Kim Jong-un is a North Korean military and political leader who is behind the continuation of the nuclear weapons programs and testing. He succeeded his father after his death and he is adored by the Korean people. He is determined and unrelenting, even if his actions contravene humanity, to develop nuclear war weapons. He is determined to get his country out of the financial sanctions imposed to them by the U.S. using whichever means possible, even if it is by fighting and putting the lives of people at stake.
