How Propaganda Is Used By Anti-Union Forces To Dissuade Workers From Organizing
Workers often organize a union to fight for issues such as having a secure job and for better work conditions. More often than not, employees fight back by initiating propagandas that fight the workers strongly. These propagandas have been used successfully for many years to fight even the strongest worker unions (Bust the Union Busters par 1). The attorney often trains management supervisors of companies and other entities on how to persuade the workers to vote down a union, hence, denying them their constitutional rights organize. The nature of the profession does not often matter as all workers from all sectors are convinced to vote down any union they belong.
There are several ways which propaganda is used as a weapon against union: first, they convince the workers how a union would ruin their family work environments in the workplaces because employers know that unions will often want the employees to have flexible and good working environments (Labor Movement par 2). A lot of money is often used to pay lawyers to develop those scripts and even train the company managers how to apply it. Employees will use propaganda to play with emotions of employees because they know that employees like having a mutual relationship with employees, and thus they would discourage them by telling them how unions will ruin their work relationships in the working environment. Employers like procrastinating the responsibilities to ensure that the employee works in a better condition. They will always convince them to “wait and see” and make small improvements and convince them not to join a union. When the workers no longer talk about a union, they return to their old ways. Employers will also organize campaigns such as “no vote, no union” and pays some of the employees who are close friends and relatives to carry out the campaign among other employees (Labor Movement par 3). The anti-union committees have succeeded to face off unions in that way. Others have been known to send letters to family members threatening them that should their relative go one with plans of joining a union they would fire them(Bust The Union Busters par 4). That strategy has worked severally because a family member would often convince a loved one not to join a union or face consequences.
How do we educate our friends and family on substances of the issues such as unions antiquated, child labor welling?
Several ways can be used to educate family and friends on issues that face them in workplaces successfully. Hence, giving them a better chance to first understand the issue and critically examine if it would be good or bad for them. First experienced individuals that have adequate knowledge on these issues can be used to shade light to these pressing issues (Labor Movement par 1). Often, many people are not aware of their rights and it often important to let someone know exactly what he or she is dealing with and how their contribution to the matter will assist for instance, in issues such as child labor, Har Kenning-back mob ties, unions among other issues that affect them directly.
Forums can also be held where families and friends can have formal debates and discussions on these issues. That way they can learn from each other’s experience and plan for the betterment of either their work environment and also their social interactions and relationships. These forums are often essential in addressing employer issues and how to go about them (The Role of Social Workers par 2). In other occasions, attorneys are hired to advise them on the legal aspects of social issues such as child labor and worker unions, that ways they have a better understanding of their moral and ethical right towards a social problem in their workplace. These attorneys also help them understand the motives of individuals that are against forming unions and the anti-worker legislations.
