Dear Mr Morales:
It is with a mixture of pride and sadness that I offer this letter of introduction and recommendation to you for one of my employees, Miss Jennifer Drake.
Miss Drake has been in my employ at the Landmark Theatre, River Oaks for 5 years as a film projectionist. It is with great pride that I recommend her, as she is an exceptional and reliable employee. The endorsement is also provided with some sadness, however, as I realize if Miss Drake is successful in obtaining the Robert A. Griggs Scholarship (without doubt a most auspicious opportunity for her) then it is highly likely that our Theatre will lose her as a valuable employee.
Jennifer came to work at the Theatre in 2011. Since that time, her duties have included all aspects of film stewardship. She receives, checks, repairs and stores the film material, takes responsibility for the smooth running of films during session time, splices broken film lengths together, maintains all aspects of the film operation and dutifully sends films off to their next destination once the performances are concluded.
Jennifer’s employment record at the Landmark Theatres has been exemplary. I cannot fault her attention to detail, her reliability and punctuality and above all, her pleasant and friendly demeanor. Miss Drake is a well-liked and respected staff member.
As I reflect on some of the attributes that Jennifer Drake has demonstrated over the last few years, there are two instances in particular, which have set her apart as a budding leader and a civic-minded member of society. Firstly, she has involved herself on an ongoing basis in film festivals which is an activity outside of her job description, but one which she has fully embraced and been proactive in. Secondly, she organized and executed the ‘Classic Director’s Fortnight Festival’ which was a huge success and from which a portion of the profits went to the Children’s Cancer Center.
Overall, Miss Drake’s professionalism, reliability and selfless attitude to society has been a credit to our Theatre and we thoroughly enjoy working with her. That said, for the reasons I have outlined above, I believe wholeheartedly that Jennifer would be an eminently suitable candidate for the Robert A. Griggs Scholarship and, should she be successful in her application, myself and my staff would be elated on her behalf.
