A place in the summer law school program at the Florida State University College of Law would be a definitive next step in my journey to eventually earn my Jurist Doctorate degree. I will soon graduate from Palm Beach State College with an Associate of Science degree. To continue my education, I will be transferring to Florida Atlantic University where I will be earning a Bachelor in Social Work degree while also earning a minor in Criminal Justice. After I complete my studies at Florida Atlantic University I intend to continue my education by enrolling in Law School.
/> As a student at Palm Beach State College I do not follow the traditional route. As an immigrant from Jamaica, I was accustomed to the British style of English and have successfully made the transition to the American version. I am a single mother who has been appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem. I am an honors student as I have a grade point average of 3.79. I am also a proud member of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society.
I presently work as a nursing assistant. I do enjoy the rewards of knowing that I am making a positive difference in the lives of others through my work. It has been a positive experience as I reap many rewards through the service that I give others. Additionally, I am also an entrepreneur as I am an independent business owner with both the Amway Corporation and the Organo Gold Company. These endeavors are a demonstration of my resolve and commitment to better myself and provide a good quality of life for my child. I continue to pursue an advanced education and earning multiple degrees because I know that education is the key to success. Thus, my avid interest in the summer program and the opportunities that it will avail to me.
The study of law is important to me achieving success as I desire to eventually become an attorney that specializes in working in dependency court. My passion is to be a servant of change for families that are undergoing crises or hardship. My focus will be working for children. As an advocate for them, I will be able to help facilitate change for those who are not old enough and unable to incur change on their own. By being a voice and ensuring that the children are heard, I will be able to continue serving the needs for others and helping to make the lives of those children better than their current circumstances.
With my strong desire to work in the field of law, and already having selected the path for which I plan to specialize, I know that I will be able to not only reap many rewards as a student in the summer law program at the Florida State University College of Law, but I will also be able to add much to the program as my diverse and non-traditional past will help to enhance the experience of my cohorts. I am grateful for the opportunity to apply for and potentially participate in such a high caliber program. I ensure you that as a student in this program I will be dedicated, committed, and foster an even greater passion for my future studies in law school.
