There are many people living today who do not have moral codes or ethics, and this is one of the reasons as to why there is so much suffering in the world. People are selfish and refuse to lend others money, and there are plenty of terrorist attacks/schools shootings occurring. In other words, if more people had core values, then there would be more room for peace and less suffering than there is currently. Now, since I am someone who enjoys helping people and being compassionate, I do have a code of ethics that I live by, and they are as follows: being healthy, doing good deeds, having positivity, and being open-minded as well. I create an ethical environment of my own by not only living by these standards, but also showing that these codes of ethics are good examples to follow if people want to others the way they wanted to be treated, but in a positive manner.
Health
When it comes to being healthy, I like to do several things to make sure that I am keeping that way daily. For example; every day I enjoy working out, as a sedimentary lifestyle is not a good one for anyone. Furthermore, I also enjoy eating healthy as well. Some examples of this include the following; making sure I eat fruits and vegetables every day, avoiding eating greasy food, etc. Now, I will admit that sometimes I do like to treat myself by eating something that is not the most beneficial, but it is only once every few months, so it does not have a big effect on my health. Overall though, I eat every healthy and like to do so by staying in shape. Now, another core value of mine is helping those in need.
Good deeds
I enjoy doing good deeds for people. Some of these examples including giving people money who need it, praying for people who feel lost, or just sitting down and talking with someone to make them feel better. However, it is also important to note that I do not do these good deeds so that I can get noticed. I do them because it is the right thing to do. Fortunately, while I have not ever done a good deed in order to get noticed, that does not mean I have not received plenty of compliments about my integrity before. As for the future, I will continue to be selfless and serve people because it the right thing to do. Third of all, another core value of mine is compassion. Now, another core value that I have currently is positivity as well.
Positivity
Ever since I was young, I have always been rather pessimistic and a negative person as well. At first, I felt that I was too young to fully understand what positivity was, but now I understand perfectly. Furthermore, another thing about the positivity that I have is that even in rough situations that I witness, I do not let what I see get me down. For example; many times there have been people who would share testimonies about their lives, and a tragic event would be included. Or in other example; there were also moments in which a person was enduring an extremely tough time in their life, and my heart grieved for them even though I did not know them very well. However, I would not only end up cheering up those around me, but my positivity would reflect on others grieved by the situation as well. In other words, I have come to realize that no matter how difficult and hard life gets (even for myself), there is not only a way to overcome all these things, but staying pessimistic and negative about every little thing has no benefit for me as a person either. Now, another core value of mine that I would say that I have is open-mindedness.
Open-Mindedness.
Although I would say that I am not a closed minded person, I still have to remain open-minded many times, due to the fact that there are many people of colors and backgrounds who I meet through my life time. Moreover, there will also be people with different beliefs as well, and with conflicting views of people of certain people who have different viewpoints on what they believe and do not believe, sometimes tensions can rise if push comes to shove. However, because I am very open-minded, I have never encountered this problem, and the same also applies to race and ethnic backgrounds as well. Now, there is also a summary of the presentation facts that needs to be looked at as well.
Summary of Presentation Facts
The summary of the presentation facts involve assisted suicide, and as of currently, California is trying to decide whether or not dying by assisted suicide should be considered a crime or not. Furthermore, some different viewpoints as to why assisted suicide would be a good or bad thing are listed as well. For example; in regards to ethical issues, some people argue that assisted suicide would be better, due to the fact that there is less suffering for those who want to end their life. They are also “dying with dignity”, and a financial burden is taken away as well. However, the other side of the spectrum makes a very fair point. For example; the other side argues that legalizing assisted suicide will end up abusing the system and end up legalizing murder, since assisted suicide itself is actually murder.
In closing, this was an interesting assignment to write out, and I am glad to share my core values and beliefs. However, the assisted suicide notes were definitely a good read as well. Moreover, I am for assisted suicide, but only on certain conditions, which mostly revolve around whether or not the family will be financially stable enough to go on without the person. While every life is worth it, people do need to remember that assisted suicide is painless and it is an easy going death as well. For reasons such as these, I am for assisted suicide, but only on various conditions as well.
