The self assessment kit is meant to help one determine his or her leadership qualities. I know my weaknesses and strength, therefore at the start of the test I had in mind what type of a leader I would make. And true to my expectations I scored as I had thought I would. I expected to be proven a competent leader capable of appealing to any group of people that constitute a diverse society.
The questions that are in the kit are appropriate in personality determination, leadership position requires a lot of personality evaluation a possibility that is easily presented by the use of the kit for a analysis. From the way that I answered the self assessment questions I never expected that I would be determined an ineffective leader. My qualities are desirable; I have a strong personality that has in the past earned me both acceptance and respect among both my peers and those of other classes. The test therefore having exhibited a ninety eight percent accuracy, I never expected the result to depict otherwise.
After totaling up the type of response that I gave, the average performance as was indicated in the result analysis was that I was in deed of a strong personality capable of being a democratic leader in a diverse society.
On an assignment, I paired up with a nurse leader from a local health facility, my role with the lady nurse was to simply observe her doing the rounds with the patients and get a sneak peak into the career. In my observation, I sought to determine the effect that diversity in the society has on service delivery. Just as discussed above, diversity is evident in the modern day society and patients who seek health services in health institutions exhibit this a lot. The staff at the facility also had their own diversities in culture all of which affected their perception on certain tasks thus their overall performance at the institution. The nurse leader too me through the daily management decisions she has to make and how each of these decisions affected the work output of every nurse in the institution (Coon & Mitterer, 2011).
A leader in such a diverse institution performs a very integral role, she must thus be one who can easily say no to an ill conduct even if it is by a kin or a close friend. This is a quality that is not always very easy to portray, humans are very partisan individuals and instances of favoritisms normally arise, if not quelled or properly taken care of, they become the strife originators in the work place a feature that if portrayed affects service delivery very negatively (Davis, Giordano & Licht, 2009).
The interaction with the nurse was a very interesting one, nurses are people who are trained ton take care of patients and be as hospitable as is humanly possible. Furthermore they have strict codes of conduct that ensures that they carry themselves out with the desired decorum. In the course of my interaction with the nurse, it was evident that she was having full understanding of these open facts as she set out carrying out her duties with the efficacy of a professional. She tended to patients without any form of discrimination or favoritism a quality that is never easy to uphold. Additionally she understood of the situations her patients were in and she set about handling them with the caution required of them by their profession.
