Reflection of the scores
According to the test results I have a high range of administrative skills. Administrative skills play an imperative role in matters relating to effective leadership. These skills can be termed as competencies required by organizational leaders for running businesses as well as accomplishing the business goals and purposes (Northouse & Peter, 124). As a business leader I apply my administrative skills in managing people, resources, and illustrating technical competence. In managing employees, effective business leaders are able to fully connect with other individuals, have a greater understanding of the business tasks to be performed and the skills need to perform them as well as recognize the most appropriate environment for employees.
In the interpersonal skills category I scored 27 which indicates that I range very highly. Interpersonal skills can be termed as abilities that aids leaders to work very effectively with peers, superiors as well as subordinates for the purpose of achieving the organization's goals. These skills are divided into three categories thus, having social perception, emotional intelligence, and the management of interpersonal conflicts (Northouse & Peter, 127). As a business leader I strive to have greater awareness of things that are paramount to employees and ways of motivating employees such as providing them with vacation trips. Being a leader also involves having a greater understanding of not only the goals of the organization but also the unique needs of different constituents of the organization. I consider having the ability to understand one's emotions and those of the employees as paramount for the success of the business as it aids me in responding appropriately in certain situations which also helps in the decision making process.
In the conceptual skills category I scored 29 which indicate that I have very high conceptual skills. These skills are applied in problem solving, creating the business organization's vision and in strategic planning (Northouse & Peter, 132). As an effective leader I am able to apply my cognitive ability to identify business problems and to come up with corrective action when problems arise. For effective leaders strategic planning is paramount and should only be based on available and reliable resources as well as personnel.
