One of the factors that define the success of a product or service in the general market is how it is marketed to the consumer base. Effective use of marketing can be a crucial factor; a good product can be ruined by bad marketing and a horrible product can be at least made popular through effective campaigning.
One of the ways to promote a product is by the use of advertisements, which can be circulated in media such as television, radio, newspaper, internet, and the like. Since people use these regularly, they are exposed to the existence of the product. However, if the advertisement for the advertisement is not appealing, it may not help the sales of the product at all.
Let us take the case of the Aldi commercial for 2016 Christmas, also known as Kevin the Carrot. All in all, the advertisement can be considered successful because it presented a novel and wonderful idea. The music of the commercial is festive and welcoming, fitting for the holiday theme. The advertisement was meant to evoke the holiday spirit, and so the colors, sights and sounds of the commercial is Christmas-themed as well. The language is also warm and welcoming—it reminds viewers of a storytelling adventure which makes them hooked for more. Generally, the advertisement is in tune with the Christmas spirit while presenting a new premise that is sure to attract the attention of the audience. After all, the idea of the story of an animated carrot that wants to be in the holiday spirit as well is sure to attract some success to an audience who wants a share of the holiday cheer.
