Motivation is an important element in any organization. It determines productivity and longevity of the same organization. There is a difference between an organization where employees are motivated and another where employees are not. Evident differences include customer service, productivity, performance, and reputation. Electro Logic is an organization that has varied employees; some have papers while others do not have them. However, it important to incorporate a motivating corporate culture that ensures job satisfaction for employees. As such, it herein determined what motivational flaws are existent in the company and how they can be corrected.
Notably, when employees were interviewed on motivation, some employees cited that their opinions are not considered since they do not have papers yet they are experienced in their relevant tasks. This is disengagement and shows employees that they are not appreciated. It further means lack of recognition of one’s efforts. This is detrimental and a setback to motivation levels as the employees see no need to put more effort since it will be unappreciated.
Another motivational flaw is bias. Interviewers noted that some employees are favored more than others. Those who are graduates of the boss enjoy better treatment and benefits compared to those who are from other graduate schools. This demotivates employees and makes them unproductive and only operating at average levels. Cognitively, people do not want to be belittled or treated as lesser beings. Therefore, if such happens their performance is affected as job satisfaction and motivation levels are reduced.
Potential strengths that Electro Logic can count on for motivation are increasing engagement levels and avoiding bias through transparent performance appraisal. Engaging employees in decision making is important as it helps improve bonding and team spirit. Furthermore, performance appraisal increases competition between employees and improves production and standards within the organization. As such, Electro Logic should explore the motivation levels of its human capital through enhancing engagement and performance appraisal.
