I support the authors’ sediments that rudeness in the workplace environment has become a common behavior of Americans. This is to mean that good behavior in the workplace among the Americans is becoming a thing of the past. It is worth noting that the Americas employees act rudely to each other and the management of the organization. Such behavior is against the ethical provisions of the Companies’ and is against the good business practices. Besides, they are against Biblical teachings that encourage people to stay in peace and harmony. For instance, the Bible in the Book of Galatians 6:2 encourages the people of the world to bear the burden of the others to fulfill God’s command (The New International Version, 1978).
Rudeness in the workplace leads to low productivity of employees. It is worth noting that employees’ feel disrespected when others become rude to them. Employee motivation to do work in such an environment decreases with time due to lack of good relation with one another. Consequently, many employees decrease their productivity since there is no conducive working environment. This is to mean that employees cannot make successful teams which work towards a common goal. As a result, the organization performance is also affected negatively (Griswold, 2002).
Managers need to take the initiative of learning their employee’s behavior and looking for ways to promote good behavior among them in the workplace. It should offer to train its employees geared towards encouraging them to leave in the workplace as brothers and sisters. Besides, the management should make the employees understand the effects of being rude on their job quality. Rewards and punishment should also be used as incentives for promoting good behavior among the employees. Employees should also work together in promoting a conducive working environment in the organization.
