Personal statement
Creativity and curiosity are the reason why I choose the field of fashion and studying fashion has indeed been an inspiring journey for me. It has made me more aware of the world around, the different culture and people, maturing my thought processes on the way. I learned that fashion was not just a matter of clothes or getting a degree from the University. I also learned that creativity and styles were not just limited to some top name such as Coco Chanel or Giorgio Armani. For me, the inspiration for fashion can be found just about anywhere. I am fascinated with the way the industry of fashion is having a strong influence over society and how it had become a lot more serious. It is the continued observations, creations, and self-reinvention that is always on in the world and work of various designers. I would want my work and designs to be wearable by the common man on the street. What intrigues me is how a single item of clothing can transform the personality of just about anybody. I feel I can use my creativity to help people express their personality and feel confident. For me, fashion is an art that walks on the streets every day. Those roads are the ramps and people walking on them are nothing less than models. Each one of them gets the chance to look different and unique, with so many styles, accessories, and designs available. I feel that as a fashion designer I carry a serious responsibility on my shoulders to keep my creative juices flowing and offer simply the best to the fashion world. Fashion connects peoples, despite making them look different, and it is the common element of style that they feel in what they are wearing, and what makes them feel special. While commercial interests remain behind the fashion, it is essential for the fashion and style to connect to the masses to be successful. It is essential to have an inquisitive and creative mind and be ready to absorb and imbibe everything that one notices in the world around. My objective is not to just become a successful designer, but make a positive difference in the lives of ordinary people through my work as a designer.
