Russian History
My general thought is that the course gave me positive insights about the necessity of learning history and how interesting it would be to learn history if approached in the right way. During my study of the Russian History, the topic that influenced me a lot was about the Russian revolution. The Revolution in Russia resulted in the emergence of the Soviet Union and the fall of the autocratic regime. The revolution inspired similar outbursts against autocratic governments in many parts of the world and hence it was a golden event from a world history aspect as well. (History.com)
During the course, I found that I have gained numerous insights about Russian history through text analysis, research, as well as peer discussion and reviews. The most important skill that I have gained during the course is that I learned is the usage of digital libraries. Numerous online resources are available about history, and the concept of using them as primary sources in research was a new knowledge to me. I also studied various standard referencing schemes for developing academic papers on history.
During the progress of the course, I studied works of numerous historians like Lynch, Allan Wildman, Ian Beckett, etc. who contributed to Russian History. History can be often manipulated. However, truthful and creative results are gained by proper analysis of credible sources. I learned strategies to analyze historical sources as part of the course. During my school days, I considered history as a boring subject. The course gave me insights about the interesting aspects of History and made the topic interesting, as well as fascinating for me.
I am sure that I have contributed my best to the completion of the course, and that my vista of knowledge has drastically improved as I headed to the conclusion of the course. I was totally involved in the course, and I feel that I will gain the best possible grade for the course.
