Marta Vieira da Silva, or simply Marta, a world famous football player, was born on the 19th of February, 1986, in a town of Dois Riachos, Alagoas, Brazil (Coggin, 2015). When she was a young girl, she was not allowed to the football grounds by the boys, including even her own brother. Her road to success began at the age of fourteen and led to gaining many titles and a nickname "Pele in skirts" (Coggin, 2015).
Marta's football career began when she was invited to play for Vasco da Gama in Rio de Janeiro (Coggin, 2015). In 2003, she signed a contract with the Swedish club Umea IK and was the first Brazilian female professional player in Europe (Coggin, 2015). In 2009, Marta Vieira de Silva signed a three-year contract with Women's Professional Soccer team Los Angeles Sol. In 2012, she moved back to Sweden to play for Tyreso FF with unprecedented salary of $ 400,000 (Coggin, 2015).
Marta's significance in history is connected both with football and with other outstanding achievements and activities. As a footballer, she is the most successful female player, she has won Olympic medals, she holds the record for most goals scored at FIFA Women's World Cup Tournaments (Coggin, 2015). Marta has won the FIFA World Player of the Year awards five times in a row (Coggin, 2015). Apart from that, Marta is also an active participant in the female rights campaigns and she never forgets how important the support is for those who are less privileged (UNDP, 2016).Thus, thanks to her career Marta has a chance not only to show her excellent football skills, but also to influence the world's attitude towards the poor and the status of females in the world (UNDP, 2016).
Ary Barroso
Ary Barroso (November 7, 1903 – February 9, 1964) was a Brazilian pianist, composer, a talent show host and also a soccer commentator apart from that (De Faria, A., n.d.). Born in Uba, Minas Gerais, which at that period was wilderness, he was inspired by his father to become a creative personality (De Faria, A., n.d.). By the age of twenty, he wrote music, played piano, composed samba, and even had bachelor diploma in law, which he never used (De Faria, A., n.d.).
Ary Barroso is the most famous and fabulous Brazilian musician of all times. He has created many of the beloved pieces of music. However, his greatest one, his diamond in the crown of his composing work, was "Aquarela Do Brazil," also known as "Brazil." This piece of music has become one of the twenty most recorded songs of all time after being featured in 1942 in the Disney's film "Saludos Amigos" (Harris, C., 2016). Another of his songs achieving an international success was "Na Baixa do Sapateiro," also featured in a Disney film, "The Three Caballeros," in 1944 (De Faria, A., n.d.).
Apart from the two world-known hits, Barroso wrote many songs and was a successful radio announcer. His songs have been used as soundtracks for many movies (Harris, C., 2016). His activity, whatever it was, always was bright and full of vigor and talent.
Ary Barroso has won several important awards and was nominated for many more. His music is so popular that it has become personification of Brazil in the world and will never be forgotten by the grateful and loving ancestors.
