Summary of the problem and alternatives
Reducing police brutality has been a challenge for the Ministry of Internal Security, the government, and the justice system. The United States records high cases of police brutality that affect the police-civilian relationship. The paper proposed two alternatives to prevent and reduce cases of police brutality. These are the provision of a mandatory yearly training to officers and conducting extensive background checks on officer's mental state yearly. The two alternative solutions have a lot of weight in helping prevent police brutality in the future.
Impact of alternatives on the issue of police brutality
Each of the two alternatives played a critical role in influencing the outcome on the rate of police brutality in the United States. After their implementation, many civilians commented on the improvement and recommended the good work of the police administration. Moreover, police department received few complaints from the public about police officers assaulting civilians. Involving officers in annual training programs helped improve their attitudes towards the public and solve issues generously without engaging in any form of violence. On the other hand, the implementation of these alternatives helped solve the problem by ensuring only competent police officers served in the department.
Before and after analysis
The two alternatives played a great role in reforming the Police Department. Before the implementation of the strategies, the country recorded high number of cases of police officers assaulting innocent citizens. Police officers engaged in daily battles with the civil society and the public who demanded the right to be treated with dignity and respect. Moreover, the society accused police leaders and management of failing to control their officers. Significant changes happened after the implementation of alternative solutions. The police department recorded a reduction in number of civilian assault cases by a significant percentage demonstrating the significance of both strategies.
