Risk Taker
Risk is often associated with some negative consequences that can emerge when a person does something he or she is not completely aware or sure about. However, risk also means discovering new opportunities and taking new chances. Being risky and brave may mean different things to people. One may see that a person is brave and courageous, if he or she selflessly helps others in difficulties. Other people may see risk, if a person decides to try something new and unusual or even travel to distant countries. Personally, I consider people risky in a good way, when they leave their comfort zone and start doing things that they have never done before. They are not sure about their success, but they continue to move on, despite any troubles.
I think I am a risk taker. I left my own country, China, to go and see what I can discover in the country that contrasts in culture and traditions. Learning and observing new things, I felt more than happy no matter how difficult it can be for a foreigner. I left my comfort zone and challenged myself with a necessity to learn new language and culture. Moreover, a greater risk was taken when I entered educational setting in order to demonstrate my skills and abilities, and to gain new ones. Even having big Chinese community in the U.S., I felt a little bit uncomfortable. However, it did not stop me in my desire to continue knowing more and becoming more open-minded. After spending some time in the U.S., I realized that if I had not made this great decision, I would not have changed my environment and seen different things. I enjoyed every challenge and every opportunity that was given to me by my new location, and now I am very grateful for the new experience.
It turned out that it was a risk that was completely worth of being taken. If I happened to make this choice again, I would not hesitate.
