Throughout my learning experience, I have realized that a team development process requires application of team roles, at different stages. To understand management and work team, these roles and their characteristics have to be defined. I have also learned to be realistic and clear about my goals and have realized the need of knowing what I want out of my arrangement so that I can state it up front. Around the bush is an indication of how to deal with team members (West, 2012).
I now feel more confident about my team work skills. This is one of the biggest reflection and benefits of this course. Furthermore, in today’s business world, I think meeting with others with maintaining the high level of professionalism is one of the most important skills that I gain through this project. Going through the historical data improved my skill in benchmarking and strengthening the idea of having deep and strong analysis resulted in useful findings. Additionally, working with a team with people from different backgrounds, enhanced my liaising skills (West, 2012).
Throughout my experience in team work i have learnt some Skills that are required for successful teamwork:
Self management involves personal discipline and character formation.
Communication with other members and sharing your ideas without condemning.
Leadership to guide and inspire fellow team mates.
Responsibility to remain focused on the problem and attaining a solution.
Supportive diversity to broaden the angle of thought and explore all solutions.
Feedback and evaluation to monitor the progress of remedies and to troubleshoot.
Strategic planning to build commitment and prioritize essentials in a mission.
In terms of research for materials, I challenged myself to acquire material that places me in a class above the average student. This would mean that I would have to work harder than most students who are termed to be average. The material I have collected prepares me to be a more than average team worker as well as guide me towards achieving the best possible solutions I could offer. I also aimed at ensuring that I will forever meet the needs of the team as well as offer my much needed help to those that I come into contact with.
As a team worker in one of the American companies, my role was to develop communication within the team. I was responsible for coming up with workable procedures from the plans the team comes up with. I acted as a guard, ensuring that the team does not make mistakes and directing my team towards attaining the set objectives. Throughout my experience with the company, I leant the activities essential for a team to work. , I believe that I have gained insight into what constitutes a good team worker in terms of their work ethics. I believe that, I have the tools and the knowledge necessary when dealing with a team. I am also keen to add onto the knowledge that I have aimed at increasing my knowledge. I understand that it is vital that one keeps on developing their knowledge not only to have them an advantage over competition but also improve the experience of the clients(West, 2012)..
In attempt to sharpen my skills required for professional team member, I try building and engaging in relationships with people. I try to make time, building networks and relationships with different people, and in social networks, and later work my way towards building new relationships with owners of various businesses in my local community.
