Lessons learned from the review and discussion
The team members understood how Netflix works from the discussion. We learned about the monthly charges, services that the company offers, and the source of its competitive advantage in the market. It gave an insight into the values, goals, mission, vision and other guiding principles of the organization. Additionally, the team identified aspects that define the positive and negative aspects of a group. The availability of resources, strengths, sufficient assets and opportunities define positive aspects while challenges, threats, limitations, and weaknesses define negative aspects (Benos et. al, 2007).
How the paper could be improved
The paper could be more appealing and understood easily if the competitors were identified. Providing the essential statistics on the topic to support theories, could also improve the review. The strengths and weaknesses of the company could have been elaborated deeply in the paper as well. Overlooking one side of the company is harmful since every organization has its good and bad sides. Any limitations that are encountered during the study and before coming up with the plan should be elaborated, to come up with immediate solutions. The team discovered that:
1. An abstract should be brief and clear to communicate the main ideas in the paper.
2. When making a comparison, for instance between Netflix and the competitors, it is right to name the competitors to show that the author(s) has enough information on the topic.
3. Using statistics to support ideas is vital.
4. The author(s) should mention the limitations of the study.
How the reviews helped in improving the writing skills of the team members
The reviews presented a chance to modify and improve the writing skills of the team members. We identified the weak points that needed to be improved. The reviews helped us in the identification of the strengths that needed to be built as well. We changed from ‘writing for the primary purpose’ to ‘writing work that is worth reading by broader audiences.’ The team learned to gather and use feedback to express ideas directly. Our writing skills improved in that; we learned that the introduction and abstract should be brief to the point. The reviews helped in modifying our grammar and figurative language to communicate ideas clearly and practically.
