- The Kinetic (Project Natal) application allows learner to learn human behavior without necessary having to directly interact with a live human being. The thing that is so profound about this application is the capacity of Milo to respond to everything that the live person throws at him. This includes sensing emotions, recognizing facial expression and movement. This is a great innovation in education because it allows for the education of human interaction especially for people who are introverts and anti-social. It will help them become more comfortable before actually facing a live person to interact with.
- I have seen a lot of students complain about the subjects and topics they learn at school. Majority of my students feel that some of their classes are unnecessary. They believe that it has no purpose or use for real life experiences. Thus, it is often difficult to get them motivated to learn. I think what is lacking is the explanation of how each subject is relevant and why there is a need to study them. This is embodies in the theory of situated cognition where the learner should be able to draw the appropriate relevance of the subject being studied to get them motivated to learn.
- The article is too anti-learning styles in my personal opinion. I have to contradict to what the author have to say about learning styles, it being a waste of time and weak or irrelevant. I think that while there seems to be lacking sufficient evidence, it is not enough to discredit that there is truth to this concept. I believe that individuals learn differently. There are certain techniques that others find effective while others do not. In the case of studying while listening to music. Some students would find it hard to study with a music playing in the background. However, for some that is the tool they use to learn more efficiently. Thus, I believe that there is some truth to the concepts embodied in learning styles and this is something that requires more attention because it can be useful. I do not agree with the author because I complete agree with Howard Gardner’s Theory on Multiple Intelligence. Hence, I believe that if children or people in general, have areas of strengths then this area would be complemented by a particular style in learning. For example, a child who excels in music would most likely learn best if materials and techniques in learning are presented in this manner. Thus, the child is most probably and auditory and verbal learner who learns best through listening and speaking because these two are needs to process music.
- I believe that of all the theories discussed in class, P. McGee's learning theory would be the classical learning theory. I said this because from the insights delivered and discusses in class, it all goes to back to how important motivation is in learning and this I believe is perfectly captured in the classical learning theory which utilize reinforcement as motivation for the student to learn.
- I think the best advice I can give is be open and not be too boxed up. If you want to learn something, you have to be open to the insights and not be too critical about it. The best way to learn is to accept the things being taught and not discount the possibilities because you are too rigid about your own beliefs.
