While going through his training, Dallis learned to identify gaps in the operational process and understand the relevance of the highest level of efficiency and operational availability.
Through the training program, Dallis is taught the basics of TPS and gets taught about the way it can help in reducing human errors and enhancing productivity. Dallis learned that experimentation is the key to TPS and it can be used to reduce production semantics such as cycle time and total work time per engine. The trip to Japan turns out to be learning experience as Dallis had to raise his game when faced with competition and ended up finding flaws in the production system. With regular practice of learning from operational failures, Dallis identified and helped in implementing changes to the production system.
The end result of the training program was that Dallis gained valuable lessons. Dallis learned that direct observation is the best way to learn about operational mistakes, as he personally witnessed from his training in Japan.
