LETTER OF APPEAL
Dear Sir/ Madam.
RE: APPEAL FOR PLAGIARISM
I am a third year part time student of admission numberwrite your number here taking a degree course in Behavioral Aspect of International Business. I am writing to appeal for plagiarism claims suspected in one of my module paper that I submitted date/ month/ year. This was the first of the three module papers that I am yet to complete before my graduation.
I acknowledge there might be such suspension of plagiarism in the work I submitted due to lack of full citation and referencing in the submitted paper making it suspect of the same. The lack of proper referencing was not intentional nor was it out of ignorance. The work I submitted was my own work that I had researched and compiled using both primary and secondary data. However, the problem arose when referencing my secondary sources where I forgot to include one of the materials that I used for the research. Consequently, the professor doubted the authenticity of the work and the concern where brought to the plagiarism board’s attention.
The cause of this forgetfulness to reference my work appropriately is purely personal but had a far reaching psychological effect. In the last nine months, I had been under pressure of stress and depression due to the medical condition of my father. For the stated time, he has been ailing and battling lymphoma cancer. Throughout all this time, I was the only member of the family to take care of him every time he was admitted to the hospital for chemotherapy. The balancing of the two responsibilities, that is, caring for my ailing father and school work became a big challenge which resulted to my stressful period. We had difficulties in meeting the hospital bill as well as pay the university fee. Additionally, it is at this time that I was taking my paper. In the course of seeking the equilibrium between the two, school and hospital demands, I forgot to reference one of the sources I used in my research.
Throughout my three academic years in the university, I have never been found on the wrong side of the university rule and regulation nor any examination malpractices. I have been an obedient student who has been observing the rules and regulations of the institution. This is my first supposed claims of malpractice. I have always done my work thoroughly and used the proper formats ensuring full referencing thus avoiding any form of plagiarism or any other form of irregularities. My past records and professors can a certain this. It is wrong and against the plagiarism code to present plagiarized work claiming to by original and that’s why I have come out to seek a consideration from the board members.
It is my sincere wish that the board will consider my situation and the reasons presented above before and when making a judgment about my fate. I wish the board considers the stressful period that I had been through that resulted to my stress and consequently forgetting to fully reference all the materials I used in my work. I am hopefully the board will consider my position and grant me another chance to redo the module paper.
Thanks in advance for your kind consideration.
