A hero is someone you look up to and aspire to be like them. In my case, two people have inspired me throughout my life, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.
Both of them took matters into their own hands and changed the course of history for the good of the people and society. These two people were born centuries apart, but, they had similar qualities. Both of them stood up against evil in our society and they were willing to sacrifice their lives to achieve their goals. Due to their efforts, we live in an America that is free of slavery and racial inequality.
Abraham Lincoln and his role in ending slavery in the United States of America cannot be admired enough. President Lincoln was a great leader who was able to unite the Union and fought a Civil War to abolish slavery. He fought against slavery at a time when many did not support his cause and Lincoln still found a way to win over people and inspired many to help in abolishing slavery. Lincoln was a visionary who came ahead of time and was fearless in his endeavour to free millions of slaves. Even though he was assassinated after winning the war his legacy remains alive even today.
Similarly, Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero as he fought for racial equality and brought millions of Americans on board to support civil rights all over the country. His struggle was even more inspiring as he professed non-violence. King was an inspiring leader who went to prison many times and never gave up. His greatness is solidified as she raised his voice against the cruelty and inequality faced by several African Americans by going against the establishment. King also perished years ahead of his time, but he played a major role in changing the course of history.
