Most of the time of an individual is spend in listening. In the same manner, majority of my time is also send in listening. I listen for pleasure as well as for getting information. While listening, I remain mindful. It is necessary to remain mindful while listening and one’s mind should not wander even in the case of confusing or complicated information (Wood, 2015, p. 177). In case of effective informational listening and effective rational listening, my strengths are, I am capable of adapting listening significantly. I can understand majority of words, and obtain information from them. I concentrate on person who is communicating, and try to memorize majority of words so that better understanding can be ensured. As far as weaknesses are concerned, I consider that I do not listen actively. In order to listen effectively, it is necessary that an individual must be readily willing to concentrate on minds, interpret, and organize feelings as well as ideas of others, show interest on the contents, retain words of speaker, and maintain level of relationship in accordance with words of speaker (Wood, 2015, p. 183). I would like to improve my skill of thinking critically so that I can evaluate and organize information more effectively. I would also like to improve paraphrasing, capability of expressing support so that effective relationship can be build while listening. For this, I have made plan to listen actively, and invest my effort as well as energy for listening in an effective manner. This will also help me in becoming more mindful, and assist me in avoiding nose and distractions in order to obtain more information from communication via listening.
