I think Pilar is a great manager. She dealt with the situation in a very calm and peaceful manner. In spite of how aggravating Miguel was behaving, she explained to him over and over again that he should pay more attention to his work and especially to the ways in which he treats the clients. Pilar shower good managerial skills by emphasizing the good sides of Miguel's work: she said he was a very good artist and that his job was done very well. Then she smoothly proceeded to describing the problem: she said that despite Miquel being a good artist, he should be more responsible. While Pilar was explaining this, he was not attentive enough, but even the Pilar did not have a burst out of anger. She just reiterated the problem and expressed her hope that Miguel would take care of it. She suggested him a solution - writing a report so that she and the client could take a look at it and see where the problem came from. But since Miguel was too busy with his personal stuff (like looking at his phone constantly and repeating how great he is), there was not much that Pilar could do for him. As a manager, she did her best job to explain to her employee that there was an issue to be solved.
While Miguel was not interested in getting into the matter at the first meeting, he showed a bit more enthusiasm at the second meeting, when he already knew that he was not going to continue working for the project. This time, Pilar again acted like a perfect manager: there was nothing like "I told you so," she just asked him again to write that report and promised to discuss it with him. Also, she said she would communicate with the client about the possibility of taking Miguel back as a part of a campaign in a few months. Pilar showed herself like a thoughtful sympathetic, and patient manager who is always ready to discuss a problem and to help her team.
