Introduction
Literary masterpieces have existed for ages, great works have been noted and preserved, though forms of expression have changed with changes in languages and introduction of new words in dictionaries, the feeling that comes when you encounter an experience with a literary masterpiece is still the same, it’s intriguing. Masterpieces written from early days are still being read to date, they have stood the test of time. Earlier on I had read other categories of literatures which were good, simple and plain; they did not have great enthusiasm in written craft as there stood no particular unique works that I came across. Written artworks were considered to be dull by generally everyone who i knew. In one of my often visits to the library I came across a literary masterpiece. I was first astonished by the command in language, the use of mythic themes and clarity in characterization of subjects in their works. These led me to diversify my choice of literature without bias but with time I have majored on few favorite authors.
I expect literary masterpieces to define their qualities by a few signs, first they must have a theme which is unique yet provoking the standard structure of writing it should be relevant to the modern time, audience and location. There are themes of love, power, grief, religion and many others that can be named today. Masterpieces show common subjects that joins people from any society or time due to the use of topics common to all humanity. It must show specificity by creating a setting that is consistent, complete and in line with the audience, it should also express magnificent prose, by creating literature that is self explanatory yet difficult to create. It should include phrases, metaphors that beautify their writing beyond imagination or definition. It creates imagination of the setting of the time and venue the story took place. It should also symbolize characters cohesively, especially where characters posses different views on their characters like they may be warriors yet very emotional. Without this ability one could create inconsistency or confusion of their audience. They should be unique in creating a new way of art structure and avoid using existing master piece formats of writing; it should show maturity of the writer in their art that will capture attention of the audience.
I have encountered literary mastery in different historic writings which used different forms of expression and grammar. Literary masterpieces are important because they maintained the art of reading; this is ensured by creating interest of their works among their audience such that there is desire to read more literary masterpieces. They also ensure better self expression by using different literature tools, like metaphors, magnificent prose. They are used to convey different information to the public without necessarily pointing at the subject of their writings directly. They are used to express different theme in the society e.g. grief and love among others, they create that atmosphere for the specific timing. The modern society has used literary mastery to continue to question, define and analyze the structure of this world, be it their religion government or ethics. Media houses have used this tool emphasize on different topics daily and spread targeted news like advertisements on lifestyle, movements and others. It has also been used to educate the society on existence of various settings of ways of life like people gain support of various actions, thoughts or beliefs.
