ProfessorDate Due Intuition Questions
1) Sandy Glass’s view of sin is ironic because Sandy feels that she does not sin. Sandy admits that she may overwork employees at the lab, stretch the truth, and hide things from people, but she does not consider this to be sin. This is ironic because all of these things are certainly considered to be sinful. Sandy is so concerned with pushing the results of Cliff’s experiments, that she doesn’t even see how much sin she is committing all along the way.
2) The Dalai Lama believes that scientists must be more than technically adept because the speed of science is growing faster than our human morals and ethics can keep up with. This means that scientists must not only be technically adept, but they must also be morally adept. It is important for scientists to be working towards the greater good of all mankind, and this involves honesty and compassion. Scientists must work to not only better science, but better all of humanity.
3) Cliff has learned that he has made big mistakes in his past. He has an “awakening” and is able to acknowledge to himself that he truly knows what he did was wrong. Cliff has learned that he is able to learn from the mistakes that he has made, and not to hide from them anymore. He seems to be more religiously aware, asking God for strength and wisdom to make better decisions in the future. This shows that Cliff knows that it is going to be a difficult road ahead, but he is willing to try.
