When other people look at me and interact with me, they see the face that I have put on at that particular moment. I believe in the fact that no person could be the same at all times and with everyone. Although this would be the ideal and would make life much simpler for everyone involved, it isn’t practical and people have to wear masks continually in order to get along with each other. Wearing a mask or projecting a different persona isn’t a lie or some sort of cheating exercise. It is a practical decision that comes out of reading people and trying to mould yourself accordingly and avoiding conflict. When I am with my friends, I am a different person. I come close to being my real self. For with them I can say whatever i feel like without having to worry about the consequences. We could discuss things that i would never dream of talking with my parents or my teachers. My teachers see me as this student who is silent, works hard in class and who takes her courses seriously. They do not see the person who is scared of tests, paper submissions and reviews. With my parents, I am different again. Of late I am guarded as I do not want them to think I am struggling in class or in life.
Thus when people see me and interact with me, they see a completely different person. I change based on the situation, the person and the place I am in. I have different facets to my personality and each person would see what I choose to show. It is not deception but rather a practical need in life to get along.
