I have chosen to join the London School of Economics and Political Science in order to pursue a Masters in Business economics. I am determined to pursue it because I want to accrue knowledge and skills to help me in working in the business industry. Life is all about choices and I have always known that in life, one can either make optimistic or pessimistic choices. Above all, I am a realist and I always pursue what I want in future. I have always demonstrated actions which can help me have a bright future. London School of Economics and Political Science, here I am knocking at your door and asking you to give me a chance to progress on my never ending journey in life that I have always named education.
I did my A-levels at Boston College in 2008-2010. I attained an A in mathematics, A in further mathematics, and A in statistics and economics. This flourished my interest in business and economics related disciplines since I had just discovered that I can really do well in mathematics. My interests for mathematics grew with time and I came to love the subject. Furthermore, I won my first prize which was my first significant accomplishment when I got a Gold Certificate for UK Senior Mathematical challenge in 2009. Getting this certificated motivated me to work harder in the mathematics subject so as to be able to pursue my future career since mathematics was a crucial subject in my career.
Since I began my career in 2010-2013 at Durham University, I have studied continuously the best practices in my career field. Through my studies, I have gained professional development to keep me marketable and it has done so up to date. I have done a variety of modules in my business class. In year 1 core modules, I studied world economy, elements of economics, economic methods, business accounting and finance. In addition to that, I also studied introduction to management and the introduction to entrepreneurship.
I leant about marketing, finance and enterpreneurship and through my good skills in mathematics, I was able to excel in all of these subjects and got an average mark of 2.1. I studied world economics and I wish to pursue my studies so as to understand all of the world’s countries and national economies and how to stabilize them. In addition, I am motivated to pursue my studies so as to help solve the global economic crisis and rumbles which are emerging all over the world. My interests in this discipline flourished when I used to look at my dad’s accomplishments. He loved political science and business and he got involved in state politics and world businesses which made him famous and rich. I do not want to go to London School of Economics and Political Science because that I feel it is interesting but because I am devoted to it and I want to make it in life and that Is why I have excelled in all my studies. My motivation is my desire to apply my exceptional aptitudes in mathematics which is my most excelled subject to study political science.
As a student at Durham University, I was very active and hardworking and I loved associating with the people in the community whereby I became a volunteer in Durham children society. Through my volunteering, I learnt how to persevere and to work for the society without any payment. I also learnt to interact with people especially the children who taught me how to love, be humble and deal with all types of people and this helped me a lot in my business career since in this career, one has to deal with different kinds of people. My volunteering provided a base to my fervor to pursue a career in political science providing that I had learnt a lot about what is happening around the world. As a business economic student, I craved to learn new things since I was not complacent with the knowledge I had but I was constantly setting new goals in my life which I was determined to accomplish despite any challenges. I worked directly with the entire staff of Durham children society and I learnt the hard way. My main obstacle was I have to look after abandoned families who have different problems yet there is no payment at the end of the day. This never brought me down but made me focus more on pursuing my career so that when I achieve in the future, I will be able to help the less fortunate and support them financially.
Extra curricular activities became also important to me all through my university education. In addition to participating in the membership of Durham Chinese society in 2010, I also participated in the Durham Hongkong society membership. I was a member of the Durham wine tasting society from October 2010. Earlier on, I had supported the British Red cross in June 2009. For one to be a well rounded student he/she should plan to retain good grades in class and also take part in campus clubs and other activities and that is exactly what I did. I have achieved all round academic growth and excellence at college and university level and I need to pursue my higher education level.
While in school, I acquired substantial information on computers and their use. I learnt the introduction to computers, Microsoft office, excel. Power point, word and photo shop. With this basic knowledge on computers, I am able to work with a computer without any difficulties. In addition to my computer knowledge, I was also able to learn languages including being fluent in English. Apart from English, I also learnt native mandarin and Cantonese. Lastly, I have worked as a translator with the Yinyang Automobile Aftermarket Limited Company. Through working with this company, I was given tremendous personal responsibilities and chances which helped me excel personally.
I am fully convinced that the knowledge and academic records that I have exhibit the eager nature of pursuing my studies and nothing coming my way is going to stop me. In addition, my excellent strong mathematical background will surely assist me in having an excellent basis to engage is studying at London School of Economics and Political Science. My plan is to pursue my studies in order to become a significant individual in the society who can help the people around and I also wish to be informed with the current world affairs. I want to be a person who will bring change to the economy of the entire world. The challenges that I might encounter on the way will enhance my opportunity and motivation in innovation of new ideas in my field. In all my accomplishments and disappointments, I am always proud of my dedication and fervor I posses for my personal values and beliefs (Roskin et al. 2007, p. 45). I never waive from my belief, therefore, I believe that I deserve a chance at London School of Economics and Political Science so as to pursue my studies and build my career.
A dedicated runner will only focus on finishing ahead of his fellow runners (Tausch and Prager, 1993, p.124). As for me, my main reason for wanting to pursue my education to a higher level is to make it in life by facing all the challenges and conquering them and bringing change in the business world.
