The Girl with Bangs
When I read this story, the type of love that I see reflected is Ludus, which considers love as a game. In this love style, one or both the partners have self-oriented approach to love as they minimize dependency and commitment. In this love style, the partners rarely become involved with one partner and often have more than one partner. These partners fail to reveal their true feelings to their each other, especially if they realize that by doing so; they can gain some advantage from them (Smith, 2004). They usually want pleasure from each other and whenever they are separated from each other, they will always resort to immediate replacement. From this story, Charlotte represents this type of love since she is most likely bisexual; she has many lovers in the story including the narrator, Maurice and another man whom Maurice finds out that she has been sleeping with him. When Maurice gets a job in Thailand, she replaces him with other lovers.
Story of an Hour
This is a very challenging story. There appears different types of love from the story, however, in my opinion, I see that erotic love is the most evident love type in this story. According to this type of love, partners fall in love early in a relationship, just the same way that it happened with Mr. and Mrs. Mallard. They are passionate and their love is intense. They share everything and know everything about each other. Most significantly, erotic love is symbolized by agony and despair incase of separation. Consistently, when news arrives that Mr. Ballard is dead, his wife is in pain, and when she finally realized that he was not actually dead, she collapses and the medical people who examine her say that she was full of so much happiness that murdered her (Chopin, 1894).
