Introduction
Romano’s macaroni grill is an Italian food restaurant located in Hacienda Crossings, Dublin. The restaurant serves delicacies which are simple and fresh. Its foods range from pasta dishes, pizza salads, and chicken and fish dishes. The restaurant also provides an option for adults who visit the place with their children. There is a menu for children who have twelve years and below. The restaurant provides gifts cards for its customers. These gifts cards are available to customers who wish to purchase them (Conner, 2011). My decision to evaluate this restaurant was in consideration of the unique aspects that the restaurant portrays. To start with, it is a restaurant that does not specialize in local delicacies. I opted to review a restaurant that deals in foreign foods and to review how the local people respond to it. Accordingly, this paper will highlight and assess the quality and the price of food in Macaroni grill, together with the other services offered at the place. These will serve as the three principle criteria of evaluation. The paper will also underline the advantages and weaknesses that are seen in the restaurant, in reference to these three criteria.
The quality of food
Among many nutritionists, the quality of food is evaluated by considering its nutritional value. Each meal a person has, must constitute of three nutrients; vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. This is duly emphasized especially in cases where children are involved. In the case of Macaroni Grill, there are appetizers and salads, which mainly have fruits in them (YELP, 2011). There is meat and fish, pastas, and the restaurant also serves rosemary bread and olive oil. There is also the option for mushroom. Nutrition wise, the restaurant has foods that have all the nutrients. For instance, if a family was to visit the place for supper, it could decide to have a pizza, which has all the nutrients (Conner, 2011). The limitation of the restaurant in view to the quality of the food is that the food is greasy, as it contains a lot of oil. This could chase away customers, especially those who do not need oil and fats in their bodies. The restaurant shows ignorance for not providing food for customers who have a problem with eating foods with a lot of fat and oil. The advantage of the restaurant nutrition wise is that apart from providing all nutrition needs, it also caters for the nutrition needs of children by preparing food suitable for them (Conner, 2011).
Price of food
The restaurant uses currency in dollars to purchase food. For a family salad, the restaurant charges 25 dollars, and an individual pizza costs 14 dollars. Considering the prices of these foods, we can note the disadvantage of the restaurant, as it is quite expensive. In most places, salad is always cheaper and yet in Macaroni grill salad is the most expensive. Another limitation is that the place only receives currency in dollars. This might inconvenience customers who are new in the country and want to have a meal in the restaurant. The restaurant might as well be slightly cost-effective as we note that the price for a pizza is 14 dollars, which is the minimum price in most places (YELP, 2011).
Additional services offered
The restaurant offers other services that include provision of food for large groups, reservations, take-out meals, waiter services, alcoholic drinks and access to a wheelchair. In addition, the restaurant also accepts credit cards for purchase of food, and availability of parking space. These are the main advantages of the restaurant in reference to the services offered. However, there are disadvantages affiliated with their services. The restaurant has a bar that obviously has alcoholic drinks. This environment might not be conducive for children, who are not supposed to consume alcohol (YELP. 2011).
Conclusion
The criterion used to evaluate the restaurant were the most emphasized in all places that provide food services. The restaurant has an excellent menu that considers the nutrition needs of customers. The services of the restaurant are also great, although the restaurant needs to expand its services in order to be accommodative of all types of people. Notably, could be said to be too expensive in their food prices. This could be a significant concern when it comes to competition for customers in the area.
