Alcoholism is a majorly abused drug among the youths. According to Henslin’s analysis, alcoholism comes out to be so difficult to handle since due to its spread. However, I would advocate for a national campaign that targets the adolescents and the young adults. This is a major step in helping reduce alcoholism and alcohol abuse. This campaign should be a state affair that the government that all the government arms should be involved in.
Although Henslin advocates for a very strict approach that does not tolerate advertising, we should also have the stakeholders in the business in mind. This calls for use to be very sober and allow coexistence since adults have the freewill of choosing whether to take alcohol or not. I would rather advocate for the enactment of laws that will govern the selling and buying of alcohol. As a nation, we can come up with some rules that restrict people from buying and taking alcohol anyhow and anywhere. Advertisement of alcoholic products may have a serious impact in the society but I believe that with stricter measures on who should be allowed to buy alcohol, when to take alcohol and when we to sell these products, we can manage this menace.
It would be prudent to acknowledge that there are few individuals who might fall prey of this drug. To them, there should be effective rehabilitation centers where they can be helped. Amongst the alcoholics, there are some who are willing to abandon the habit but they cannot do it on their own. On this I would propose that be the stakeholders can take advantage of the colleges and start very strong rehabilitation centers to deal with alcoholism in colleges.
Henslin also points out that some of our habits can cause alcoholism to spread. Some parents and siblings can mislead the some members of the family into taking alcohol. Though this is true, there is nothing much that can be done to it. We can advocate for discipline in people.
