I have learned that China’s leadership and business practices differ significantly from those of Westerners. For instance, the China leaders especially the government officials are very corrupt and not transparent discouraging investment to most of the western investors. Besides, the Chinese leaders take long before they trust others. However, this is different in western nations where leaders are very honest, and they have the ability to build trust with others. Also, the Chinese leaders and their followers tend not to have good ethical work practices that can are observed in the western nations. These issues make their expertise different from those from western nations (Huang n.p).
Also, I have learned that recruitment and retention practices of Chinese experts in other nations are different from that of Western experts in China. For instance, Huang (n.p) reveals that the Chinese experts are given lower packages in western countries as compared to what their counterparts from Western nations receive while working in China. It is clear that this difference occurs due to discrimination arising from western nations. For instance, the western nations feel superior hence tend to underrate the Chinese experts working in their nations. All the same, the Chinese employees take the challenge and are ever motivated to improve their skills so as to promote their competitiveness in the labor market.
Finally, I have learned that China leaders have realized their weaknesses and challenges hence, they are changing their tactics to improve such gaps to match with their counterparts. For instance, the management at various sectors in China is taking the initiative to improve the way of doing things in China via the use of leadership programs. Some of the commonly used programs include in sourcing and tiered programs.
