The project scope management and planning are most critical parts of a project that help to complete it in an effective manner. Project scope describes the detailed set of features and deliverables of a project. It is important to protect the project scope that ensures that the project and its processes are defined and mapped accurately. The effective project scope management plan helps project managers and supervisors to allocate the right amount of resources necessary to complete the project successfully within a time effective manner. The efficient plan helps to create the detailed project scope statement, work breakdown structure, control structure, and validation of project scope. The project scope provides a clear understanding about the project size, goals, and requirements. It helps to monitor and control the project till its closure. The scope helps the project managers to collect the inputs, tools, and techniques that are required for successful completion (Phillips, 2014).
It is noticed that a project is set unable to achieve its objectives and results without protecting the project scope. The risk of project failure one of the biggest consequences due to poor project scope management plan. The project managers and supervisors are unable to control and monitor the project without developing a sound project scope. The results of a poor scope are unavoidable such as over budgeting, over time, schedule failure, loss of money and other resources, and poor quality. The project leaders and other team members are directly responsible for developing the effective project scope. They are not able to perform effective risk assessment, change control, and forecasting due to lack of efficient project scope. Overall, it is found that protecting the project scope is an effective part for successful completion of a project as it ensures the viability of the project and also protect the rights of stakeholders involved in the project according to their responsibilities.
