Introduction
The bond between man and dog is unconditional that explains why the love between them is deep. The relationship of humans and dogs is based on trust and purest form of love. The loyalty of the dog to his or her master is incorrigible. A dog will not think twice in saving the life of his or her master and will not hesitate to do it over again. The more time spent together by the dog and the master will build a stronger bond. A bonded dog is one which listens to the basic obedience cues without having to think. It is natural for a dog to respond easily to the master’s orders. The trainings should be a part of the dog’s everyday routine to be able to teach the dog what should be done and the things that are to be avoided when inside the house. Some medical experts have stated that animals and human relationships produce health benefits such as lowered blood pressure. Dog have a way of producing feel-good hormones which can be attributed to the boundless love of the dog for his master, which explains why they earned the title “man’s best friend”.
I once had a male Golden Labrador named Husky. When Husky was still a puppy, he makes rough and hoarse noises whenever he barks. Such unique trait has rightfully earned him the name “Husky”. Seeing Husky growing up was a pure joy to me. He was given as a present to me by dad when I was 12 years old. I have fun every time I am with him because he likes to play outdoors and his favorite sport is Frisbee. Husky knows how to perfectly catch a flying disc. But before he was able to learn how to catch the Frisbee, he had to go through several weeks of training and practice. Armed with my patience, I spent time with Husky in open fields during weekends together with my family. Teaching my dog the virtue of discipline has made our bond even stronger. Despite his several misses to catch the Frisbee, he consistently remained eager to learn. The best lesson I learned from Husky during this experience is never to give up easily. Husky has given me limitless positive adoration, which is missing in most human relationships. He adored me even if there were times that I completely ignored him and during my occasional mood swings.
The most memorable event that I share with Husky is when he saved my life. One morning, I decided to take Husky for a walk as part of my fitness routine. I was unaware that there was a speeding car behind us so Husky kept on jerking his head back when he heard that there was a car on its way towards our direction. As I turned my head, I see a white BMW car that was reversing straight towards us. That very moment I was shocked for a few seconds and Husky ran to the corner of the street leading me to a safe direction. It was later revealed that the driver of the white car was an old man who claimed that the car’s gas pedal was malfunctioning. I was so relieved that I was able to avoid the impending danger ahead because of Husky. Husky saved my life from a near-death experience. During the investigation, the police asked me to give a statement about the incident and the officer told me that I was lucky to have Husky because he served as my protector during that time. The driver’s license of the owner of the white car was suspended after he tested positive for alcohol based on the results. From that day on, Husky and I became more inseparable. I treasured his love and loyalty even more when he gave me a second chance to live. I was truly grateful to have him in my life because aside from the joy that he gives, such incident proved that he is willing to offer his life for me. The act of selflessness exhibited by Husky is more than enough reason to return his unconditional love.
Conclusion
I spent four more wonderful years with Husky before he finally succumbed to distemper. Those last four years with Husky were well spent because we had more time playing Frisbee and walks in the park. It was heartbreaking to see him go. But I know that Husky is in a better place now where everything is happy and he can no longer feel any pain. I discovered that a dog’s love for his owner is boundless and goes beyond infinity. The bond between man and dog is deeper than any other human relationships. In fact, Husky taught me the greatest lessons in life which are honesty, faithfulness and pure love. He was the only living thing who made me feel good and loved. In times of chaos in my life, it is with Husky that I found peace. To this day, I still miss him and he still holds a special place in my heart.
