Management
In order for Chuck Keown to accomplish the changes he envisions, five important activities and resources would aid the process. These five elements include supporting an unlimited mix of standard products, becoming a process focus manufacturer, diversifying the selling centers, targeting consumer preferences and take orders directly from the consumers.
Supporting Unlimited Mix of Standard Products
Supporting an unlimited mix off standard products would include manufacturing products that consist of variant styles and offered in predetermined sizes. If such changes are made, Chuck will enable the LWT to produce the products in required batches depending on the size combination and the popularity of every style. Supporting an unlimited mix of standardized products would also allow for diversification of the products depending on the market demands.
Taking Orders Directly From the Customers
Taking orders directly from the consumers would enable the LWT to reach the customers by establishing a distinct avenue of communication including catalogs and technology, especially the internet. Additionally, taking orders directly from consumers enables consumer satisfaction by enabling close relations with the customers to determine their needs.
Targeting Consumer Preferences
Targeting consumer preferences will enable the LWT to gain competitive advantage over its rivals and competitors, such as China.
Becoming a Process Focus Manufacturer
Becoming a process focus manufacturer will enable the LWT to enhance consumer satisfaction through direct handling of customers and making of shutters to the specific measurements and finishes, they require. Additionally, it will be a move to gain a competitive advantage over China.
Diversifying the Selling Centers
There has to be a diversification in the traditional selling centers, including the independent decorating centers in Canada and the United States.
