If I was Eva, the first thing was to understand the psychological problems that Rosetta was facing. Sexual harassment always happens in the workplace but Rosetta was more sensitive, which raises the alarm whether she had been sexually abused before she joined Maple Leaf Shoes Ltd. After Rosetta quit her Job, Eva should have gone to the male workmates and notified them it is because of them that Rosetta had quit her job. This would involve making them aware that their action of bulling and sexually harassing Rosetta was unethical, both in the workplace and in normal living situations within the societal setup. The Supervisor, Ali, had been notified of the ongoing sexual harassment on Rosetta but did nothing. Since Rosetta had notified Eva about this incident, Eva should have sought an official in the organization who had more authority and power in the hierarchy more than Ali. This would have created awareness that sexual harassment was an ongoing activity in Maple Leaf Shoes Ltd. Ali was a friend to the men who teased and verbally harassed Rosetta, so reporting to him had little influence. Eva could have confronted the men and told them that if another lady quits another time because of their abusive behavior, then she would report the matter to the highest management level.

In this instance, Ali’s responsibilities as a supervisor is to ensure that work is done efficiently and the work environment is conducive to the workers who are using it. Ali as well had the responsibility of standing up for Rosetta and ensuring that the men, despite being his friends, stopped insulting her and sexually harassing her using sexual sentiments. However, Ali did not carry out the responsibilities as required, which led to the quitting of Rosetta. The department that Ali was supervising fell directly on his responsibility, which gave him the power to practice leadership without favoritism or discrimination. By agreeing that the jokes existed but it was Rosetta who was over-sensitive, Ali is admitting to the fact that he knew that Rosetta was being harassed but did nothing. As a leader in an organization, it is required to carry out stipulated responsibilities without favoring anyone regardless of their color, gender, race, religion or even party affiliation. Ali maintained that it was unfair for him to be responsible but in the real sense, he was responsible for Rosetta’s resignation.
