Historical event has a major influence on the present event. Despite the need to embrace the modern occurrences, history still has a hand in the current event. Considering various aspects sociological, economic and political it is vital to observe the critical issues that indicate various developments. Everything that is done has an origin, and this is considered historical, from the inception of the current state of the event or item.
The historical perception of the film, “The Last Samurai” portrays the various spheres of life. A 2003 production highlights the American war. Edward Zwick directed the film. Certainly, the firm is trying to inform us about the past event. From the title of the film, it suggests a key event that took time long ago and deemed relevant to inform us about what transpired with the Samurais. Further, the intention of the film is to tell us the cultural practices that were done and the political standards of the past.
The film tends to be more of a real period event. However, amid the presentations, the film comes in the form of entertainment. Tom Cruise as the lead character takes up the challenges and comes out clearly. His characteristics as featured in other films substantiate the intention of the film. The real period events took place in 19 century concerning the Japanese Meiji restoration (Zwick n.p). The creation of the samurai warriors indicates that the existing government had enough soldiers that would protect the government. Notably, the indication of the need to westernize Chinese army and make them have a powerful army has been highlighted.
The film is trilling to watch. It has displayed cues that interpret the Japanese language into includes. Further, the sound effects show the nature of the film. It attracts the audience to keep on watching and be anxious about the events that would follow. The samurai warriors used crude weapons and lost the first battle but capture Imperials’ captain. The dialogues in the film provide an in-depth understanding of the film.
Upon watching the film, I found myself getting involved. The presentation in the movie is convincing that one would believe they happened that the characters are the real ones. Captain Algren takes up the role of the lead of Imperial; soldier who he had trained. When the captain was captured, it was reliving seeing the way he adopts into the Japanese culture and way of life (McCarthy n.p). Views desired the way he quickly become part of them and even became close to the widow of the samurai he had killed. The event sin the film were well organized that would not even leave the audience questioning the systematic occurrence of the events.
Personally, I was interested in the film. I enjoy watching historical movies that characters take up the role of the real historians and perform it flawlessly. I would even re-watch the movie. The coverage of the various tactics used by the warriors, for example, it was interesting seeing eh samurai advancing and adopting the guerrilla tactics in an attempt to defeat its enemies.
Certainly, the characters were not the real historical characters. The film was done based on the real life story of the samurai people. The characters put on appropriate costumes that made them become like the real characters. Interestingly, this comes out clearly. It provided information and entertained the audience.
