According to the Article by Resnick and Miller about the gay killings earlier this month, it shows how terrorism is prevalent in our country. It is understandable to be homophobic but taking numerous lives at one because of their sexual orientation was unnecessary. The article describes how experienced the gunman was. The gunman Mateen saw that it was his duty to rid the world of the people he killed because of their sexual orientation.
The attacker Mateen prayed in a foreign language before committing the outrageous act. His father, however, believes that the attack was not based on religion. He said that his son was a homophobe who hated watching gay people publicly display of affection. The article goes on to say that many mass shooters have used the gun AR-15 (Resnick, and Miller).
Two issues come into perspective. The issue of religion and the issue of killing people because of their sexual orientation. It is against our ethics as human beings to kill or harm other people because of their choice of life and who they believe in. The murderer Mateen believed that saying prayers before he murdered all those people would somehow make the situation better. He might have believed who he was praying to accepted what he was about to do.
The club was founded to help the LGBT community be able to identify themselves and be comfortable in a place they could relate in (Resnick, and Miller). It is, however, sad that some people cannot accept others way of life and opt to kill them or bring harm to them. The actions portrayed by Mr. Mateen were completely unethical as they violated the rights of the people at the club because they took away their lives and made them live in fear.
