Although I have a degree in life science, I have realized after I graduated that my true passion lies in business and entrepreneurship. I never did excel in my degree and I realized that it was because it wasn’t my calling. It is with this newfound insight that I am redirecting my career path and am venturing out into the world of business.
I believe that we are all gifted with special skills and talents and I believe that mine is in the field of business. As evidenced in my resume, I have assumed various entrepreneurial roles, most of which are in the upper management levels. Although these roles entailed responsibilities and required skills that were very different from my educational background, I have successfully accomplished the tasks involved in these business roles. I realized that I excelled in this field so much so that I was compelled to start my own business.
In particular, I am starting a job placement company that is intended especially for post-secondary students and recent university graduates. I am presently developing the company website and am also conducting a market research. Moreover, I am currently in the process of implementing the business plan, which involves my attendance in various client meetings, the acquisition of capital, and the implementation of other business development initiatives.
With this new endeavor that I’m starting on my own, I believe that a Master’s degree in Business Administration will enable me to further ensure the success of my business. I know that, despite my innate skills and my natural inclinations in business, I still have a plethora of knowledge to learn. I also believe that your esteemed academic institution will be the best training ground for me to develop the skills that I would need to successfully run my business.
Aside from business, my other interests include philanthropic and humanitarian efforts, as well as public service. While I attribute gaining my business savvy to my mother who is a successful entrepreneur herself, I attribute my interest in charitable works and my desire to help others to my father. He is a doctor who has always been so selfless that I can’t remember a time when he had put his own interests before those of his family. With that, I believe that my desire to help others is another of my motivations to go into business. By becoming a successful entrepreneur, I know that I can be of help to many people. Although this was also one of my motivations in studying the sciences, I now realize that I can still be involved in public service even while pursuing what I really want, which is being an entrepreneur.
Although I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was in grade school, this has never deterred me from reaching my goals. I am a very determined and ambitious person who never gives up in the face of difficulties. Although my GPA is less than satisfactory, I believe that it is not reflective of my capabilities, my intelligence, and my motivation. I liken myself to being a round peg in a square hole with regards to my previous endeavors. However, I am confident that the field of businesses is where I belong and am looking forward to starting my journey in this new path. In this regard, I would consider it a great honor and privilege should you consider my application to your graduate degree program.
