I am writing this essay to express my extreme interest in the summer internship at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. I am currently a junior mechanical engineering major at Alabama A&M University, with a concentration in propulsion; I will be a senior in the fall. In terms of my education, my desire is to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree, then get my Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
When I heard about your summer internship, I leapt at the chance to apply. NASA, as an agency and a scientific and engineering powerhouse, has been one of my great inspirations since childhood, and the notion of working for them in any capacity further fuels my dedication. I have a great passion for aeronautics and aerospace-related advancements, and it is my hope to be a part of that exciting industry. Given all that I would benefit from the chance to work with the fine engineering experts at NASA, it would be foolhardy to pass up such an opportunity.
This internship will also help me learn more about the field in which I want to enter. My ultimate career goal is to become a mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry. With the help of this internship, I would be able to gain a tremendous understanding of aerospace technology, mechanics, and industry – all infinitely useful skill sets for my chosen occupation. I am an extremely driven and dedicated individual who would more than appreciate the chance to participate in this summer internship.
