The research question of this paper to be examined is: what effect does the uneven development of the internet have on social, cultural, political and economic inequality? The thesis of the paper is therefore: uneven development of the internet has effect on social, cultural and economic inequality.
The importance of research topic lies in the presence of internet in all areas in research and education, in economic development, social significant, and spending of free time. Internet connects all critical services from financial, transportation, health care systems and also systems for support of water and food, and also energy supply. Uneven development of information communication technology – ICT is separating the world on information society and the society that it is inferior. It is worth of investigation because internet or lack of it plays an important role in equality. The power of information is the new motto of the globalized world and with no access to the information the inequality is spreading.
Intend to organize and carry out the investigation will begin with a brief history of internet development, with the roots, and the beginning of the internet, how it spread into the civil area and what importance it has in today’s globalized world. Further on the uneven development will be presented based on different speed of development in different parts of the world. Statistical data will be provided by internet users, their habits that will show the importance of this media in every sphere of our life. The paper will show the difference between western countries and African and Asian countries that have yet to develop the high technologies in the internet arena.
Whit the information and data of uneven development I will present academic sources, articles and books that will show how this uneven development affects the social, cultural, political and economic inequality. The study will be primary, secondary analysis of already existing data retrieved from academic resources, books or via the internet.
