It is no secret that the Medical Administrative Assistant position entails a plethora of important duties in performance of a wide range of skills, which hospitals, chiropractors, and physicians’ office clinics depend upon. Especially today, the job market of the profession demands the ability to be respectful and compliant with confidentiality, pertaining to the fact that he or she will be working with patient healthcare records and information. So, this brief discourse focuses on three main characteristics which are key to the development of a professional image, along with the reasons why I believe so.
First of all, the core characteristic of a Medical Administrative Aide should be one of diligence. In other words, someone in this position must not be lazy or have a cowardly attitude in being slow-minded about their work. So the first characteristic, which helps develop the Administrative Aide towards professional excellence, is the trait of being industrious. The second very important characteristic that develops the professional mindset, is the attitude of flexibility and expectation. What is meant by that? Well, the job includes all sorts of activities that may change from day-to-day. These may include, but actually are not limited to tasks such as: front-desk check-in of patients, general records keeping, maintenance of inventory supplies, other specialized clerical duties, updating the scheduled appointments, and so forth. Your attitude of flexibility as a facet of your personality and professional development, will go a long way to help train mind and body to be quick, and think fast while handling myriad responsibilities.
In conclusion, the third quality necessary to key development, contributing to a foundation of the Medical Administrative Aide profession is ethics. Following all legal protocols and standards, in addition to using common sense by not divulging patient personal information from their health records. Since those in the medical field, in any capacity, has access to people’s private medical information, a strong sense of ethical behavior that the Aide takes personal responsibility for is a must. All the skills in the world mean little to nothing, if the Medical Administrative Aide is dishonest which can also risk their reputation to ever get a job anywhere else in the country.
