Medical Examination before marriage is very important in helping the couples to understand health status of each other. According to Pavitra (all), medical examination before marriage it helps the couples to know whether of them has any chronic disorders. Testing for chronic disorders such as heart disease, liver disease, diabetes, kidney disease and hypertension have serious implications for a marriage. Through medical examination for the disorders before marriage, the couples are able to understand the person’s need for continued medical attention during their marriage life. In so doing, it helps them to reduce the chances of misunderstanding each other during their marriage.
In addition, medical test on generic transmitted conditions is very important for people who want to get marriage. Through the test, the couples will understand whether on such genes that may transmit diseases to children have. Fishman (232) gives out some of the genetically transmitted to include cancer, mental disorders and juvenile diabetes. Ideally, this helps them to be aware of these diseases to take medical attention when the signs and symptoms arise on the side of their children just as Symonds (122) suggests. Through the examination the couples agree on whether to go ahead and marry or they may decide to separate according to their convenience.
Markos (248) states that, test on sexually transmitted diseases is important before marriage since it helps deal with the stigma attached to such diseases. For instance, sexual health diseases such as gonorrhoea, herpes and hepatitis C once detected to one of the partners may help the medical officer address them early in advance before marriage. Payne et all (216), believe that test for HIV is very important for before marriage since it helps the two partners to know their status thus acting accordingly. It prepares them psychologically on how to manage life with such issues.
Finally, according to Stavans (126), the goal of medical examination before marriage is to help the partners know the health status of each other. In so doing, the partners are able to live with each other without any problem because they have a prior knowledge of health status of each other. Besides, through the knowledge, the partners are able to seek medical attention when necessary thus enhancing a happy life.
