This is to inform you that it has been decided that from Monday next week i.e. DD/MM/YYYY, there shall be 01 hour lunch break from 1300 hours till 1400 hours. The decision has been taken in the wake of recent survey in which it has come to fore that the workers are inclined doing their personal tasks such as attending to their emails and phone calls during office timings which is impeding the official work and thereby decreasing the efficiency. It has also been shown by the survey that the employees who have been regularly taking lunch break during office hours are producing better results. Thus, in order to meet the personal needs of the employees and interest of the company this decision has been taken so that all the employees can take advantage of this facility. Employees can take lunch, coffee; can go out with someone and anything they may like to do in this time. This time has been specifically dedicated for our employees’ benefit and refreshment. Employees can freely do their personal tasks during this 01 hour break such as attending to someone’s call, email or any other sort of communication.
After the end of the lunch break all the employees are expected to report back on duty well in time so that official work is not hampered. The management hopes that those employees who had not been taking their lunch break earlier will make maximum use of this facility to cater to their personal needs. In case, a few employees have issues with the timing of the lunch break, it is expected that the managers will convince them that these timings have been selected after careful research and keeping in view the best standard practices in corporate environment. Thus the employees may be convinced to conform to these timings and adjust accordingly. Initially, there might be difficulty in following the new routine but the managers are required to use their interpersonal skills to ensure that the new policy is being implemented upon.
The coffee and tuck shop on the office floor have also been communicated in this regard so that they are ready to accommodate large number of customers during the lunch break. Those employees who bring their lunch with themselves can avail the facility of heating from the facility available in the office kitchen.
All the managers are expected to ensure that this decision is followed in letter and spirit from next Monday. They are also requested to motivate the staff working under their command to avail this 01 hour break to their maximum benefit. They are also requested to ensure that the employees, after doing their personal tasks e.t.c. in this 01 hour break, report back to duty so that official work can be commenced. The managers are required to submit monthly progress report of employees after this lunch break is in effect so as to measure the change in efficiency brought by this new policy. The change in progress may be measured in terms of individual tasks completed by each employee or the overall performance of their department. This policy is applicable to employees of all categories whatsoever.
