What are the characteristics of the three types of research designs?
Qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method research designs encompasses distinct characteristics. Qualitative research focuses on immature concepts that lack fundamental theories and previous research. In addition, this research method is being used in the absence of quantitative measures. Existing theories that are conspicuously biased, inappropriate and inaccurate needs further exploration to clearly describe a phenomenon. Quantitative research method on the other hand encompasses understanding of the extent of influence that variables and factors have on a predicted outcome. In addition, the approach advances the research through a theory test. Lastly, Mixed-method research possesses the characteristic of having a need to establish relationship among variables in a given situation through a mixture of methods that employ quantification of factors and justification of known theories. Incorporating quantifiable means with theoretical objectivity provides further depth of the research.
What are some writing strategies you will employ to "establish the habit of writing"?
Establishing the habit of writing involves employing some effective writing strategies. It starts by selecting a time of day that works best and choosing a place that is free from any distractions. Making writing as part of a daily activity regardless of readiness and mood helps to establish the habit on a long-term. If there are difficulties finding a regular writing time, it is best to chart daily activities for an entire week and allot at least half-hour blocks in between activities for writing. Writing ideas while its fresh also helps to sustain the flow of cohesive thinking, which helps to avoid writing in binges. It is not necessary to do long writings, as it will entail eventual burning outs, it is best to write in small amounts at regular intervals. Planning the writing tasks enables working on specific manageable units, which can be scheduled ahead of time.
