Ruling in a democratic nation is done by those people who are elected by the majority of the population and for a specific time before elections happen. Essentially, democracy entails freedom of choice of leaders through a fair and open process.
Antonio Villaraigosa Five major contributions
1) Safety in L.A. was one of the main issues. Villaraigosa raised funds that would help hire more police officers. Had the intention of hiring 1000 more officers by 2010.
2) Traffic congestions were another issue. Measures were implemented to reduce the congestions in L.A.
3) Improving educational facilities. He made sure that he expanded small schools and colleges.

1) Ensuring that educated and qualified latin secured good jobs. Helped majority of the latin journalist.
2) He was the voice of the people who were outside the room. He presented issues and claims of those that could not be heard, but had compliance and issues to raise. This led to several changes.
3) Leader of the Latin Initiative. This newspaper aimed at airing issues and representing the biggest minority group in southern California. Aired their cries.
4) He also fought against what he referred to as "bureaucratese." This was a situation where the Americans referred to the Lationos as "Hispanics."
5) Ensure transparency in media sector. Fought against use journalist by the powerful politicians. Fight against manipulation of the media by those in power.
5 reason the Chicano movement only lasted for 10 years.
1) Area of concentration. People forming this group are situated in the southwest region. Therefore, could not be able to efficiently influence others from different regions.
2) The U.S. government has monopolistic capital class of leaders. These people are oppressed in the different aspects of life which denies them a chance to shout out their claims.
3) Leadership and union. The liberal group did not have strong and strategic leaders who knew exactly what to do to handle specific situations that brought them down.
4) Funds and management. Problem of vandalism and misuse of funds.
5) Leaders and majority of the members developed and later on found themselves struggling in the capitalistic system.
Themes portrayed in the Chicano Walkout Film
1) Racial discrimination. Students in school are not allowed to speak spanish or access the washrooms during the day.
2) Police brutality is also a theme displayed in the film. During the demonstration, the participants are beaten by he police force.
3) Media inefficiency is another theme portrayed. When the students are protesting they are brutally handled, and no media coverage and footage is shown on the television channels.
4) The theme of unity among the students and the parents exist. evident. During the protest, parents join the students on the streets increasing the effect of the protest.
5) Courage is also portrayed by the main character a lady named Paula. She receives discouragement and threats from different sides but still carries on with the plan of protesting.
Themes about the Hispanics and the Medal of Honor film
1) Gender inequality. The film does not show any female soldier receiving any medal means that there a very few female soldiers if any.
2) Patriotism is also displayed here. Soldiers who have serious injuries like loosing body parts is shown, and they have no regrets serving their country.
3) Interacial marriages and courtship. Spanish or the spanish-American soldiers are seen with complete white wives.
4) Absence of racism is seen. White soldiers relate well with the soldiers of other races without discrimination. White ladies marry the Latin soldiers.
5) Prejudice in the assigning of rankings in the force. Soldiers from Hispanic background are not not selected. Criteria used is not fair.
Themes about the Chicano Moratorium film
1) Descrimination is on of the themes portrayed here. Treatments of those in the military was not fair and equal among all.
2) The lack of civil rights on the people from Hispanic backgrounds. Not all the people were treated right irrespective of their ancestral origin.
3) Education to all is also another theme. All the citizens have the right to same educational quality.
4) The police were brutal when dispersing or dealing with the protestants. Brutal force is used. Protestants are hurt.
5) Lack of Media transparency. Failure to air the brutality and filtering of information to protect some leaders.
