1. Information technology plays a major role in improving the efficiency and performance of business. There are different applications of Transaction Processing System (TPS) that could support business transactions. Three most effective applications of TPS are IBM Transaction Processing Facility (TPF), Hewlett-Packard NonStop system, and Transaction Management Executive (TMX).
2. Transaction processing system (TPS) is a software system that collects, processes, modifies, captures, and retrieves detailed information of transactions in an organization. The system stores information in the most up-to-date manner that helps to improve the operational performance of an organization. The system helps to process online banking and other transactions in an easy and time effective manner. It provides necessary information for making the right decision at the right time for development of the business. It allows customers to access the company’s products and services and make online purchases that could improve their satisfaction.
The system coordinates the distribution and warehousing of an item. Moreover, bank transaction and credit from the consumer's payment account and inventory of business, profits, payroll, and sales can be managed in the most efficient manner. It helps the company to handle several operations simultaneously that improves sales and profit of the organization. I would recommend my manager to implement TPS in the organization to achieve best results. TPS has a positive impact on the customer base that helps the company to increase its sales and meet its objectives effectively. It improves processing, reliability, standardization, transparency, durability, consistency, isolation, and speed of operations in the organization that plays a significant role in the growth and development of the business.
3. The effective implementation and utilization of sophisticated information technology is a significant challenge for some organizations. The implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has a direct impact on the entire company including its processes, employees, and culture that creates different issues in the organization. Some companies fail to implement EPR due to different reasons such as lack of skilled employees, poor management skills, weak IT infrastructure, ineffective consultant effectiveness, cultural differences, lack of sound leadership, insufficient financial resources, and lack of confidence and commitment.
4. Different factors are identified that are associated with the failure of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation. A company should develop different approaches for successful implementation of ERP system. The Strong commitment to leadership is required to implement and utilize the system in the most efficient manner. The company should arrange different ERP related training and development programs for improving the knowledge and skills of employees. The management and employees are directly responsible for the successful implementation of sophisticated information technology. The management should improve the IT infrastructure and arrange sufficient resources for effective implementation of the system. The implementation requires sound leadership is required with strong commitment and confidence.
5. It is noticed that the cultural differences play an important role in the success or failure of ERP implementation. ERP implementation is a significant cultural change in an organization that has a direct effect on the people who belong to different cultures. Most companies have developed an effective organizational culture that helps them to implement the ERP system efficiently . I am familiar with a leading organization, Amazon that developed effective organizational cultural system and implemented different ERP systems such as e-CRM system. E-CRM system is used for managing, monitoring, and completing online transactions that helped the company to develop strong relationships with its customers and achieve competitive advantage in the market.
6. My answer would be same for question 3 and 5. Culture is a significant factor that has a direct impact on the company's system and processes even with the use of a less sophisticated system. Organizational culture can have a direct and indirect impact on the implementation of TPS. Strong cultural values and support are required for the implementation of a new system.
