Question one:
Pakistan and Iran are two major nuclear powers in the Middle East? Iran is a definite threat to U.S. involvement in the Middle East. Pakistan is considered an ally but remains in constant political turmoil. What is the probability of Pakistan joining forces with Iran in becoming one major nuclear threat? How can the U.S. ensure this will not happen?
Answer
Being part of the wider Middle East, Pakistan is one of the countries with nuclear power in the region. The country successfully tested her weapons in 1988. On the other hand, though rumor has it that Iran could be on her way to reach a nuclear weapon capacity, there is no evidence to ascertain this claims. However, the country’s intentions to implicit threat of uranium enrichment have always been a threat to the US involvement in the Middle East. This is because of the Islamism radicalization of the Iran’s geopolitical front (Pakistan and Iran, 2014). Even though the country suggests that her intentions for nuclear power are only for peaceful purposes, the country’s political situation cannot be trusted.
Yes, Pakistan is considered an ally to the United States’ foreign relations interest. This is the reason behind the county’s worse relationship with Iran. This is due to the fact that Iran’s intentions for a nuclear program pose threat to Pakistan’s power influence in the region. For instance, Pakistan has guaranteed nuclear protection to Saud Arabia when Iran successfully ventures to be a nuclear force. Although there is some level of agreement between the two countries, the probability of the two joining hand to form one nuclear arsenal is minimal. And to ensure that this does not happen, the US military or diplomatic action could be the solution to end Iran’s intentions.
Question two:
Describe the U.S. assertion that U.S. aid to Israel enhances American national security interests; by strengthening our only Middle East ally in an unstable, dangerous, and vital region of the world. Use at least one Internet source in addition to the text to answer this question.
Answer
First, an American ally is a country that shares ideological values and reflects the founding spirits of the United States of America. An ally stands with the US through the country’s conflicts and global vision. This description best suits Israel. The relationship between the US and Israel has been very strong for decades. One of the reasons behind this is that Israel stands arguably to be the only Middle East country with democratic governance. The country political ideology matches that of the United States. Furthermore, the strategic position of Israel helps the US gain control of her involvement in the region.
The US-Israel alliance has been a focal point for analysts of foreign policy in the Arab world. As most Middle East countries differ with the United States in ideological terms, the Israel alliance has helped the US deal with global issues enhanced by the Muslim world. Among the issues include terrorism, nuclear intervention and global peace. Strengthening Israel in military and weapon power has proved vital in controlling the region by the US (Contact force on two blocks, 2014). It has been instrumental towards fighting terrorism and Muslim radical ideologies that have been considered intolerable by the global society. Although the relationship has always been the center of conflict between the US and the Muslim world, it has help the US, as the world’s supper power maintain peace and make the world a better place to live.
Question three:
What are some of the reasons for the recent rise of violence by Islamic youth in France? Use at least one Internet source in addition to the text to answer this question.
Answer
The recent riots in France can be compared to the Madrid and London attacks of the mid-1960s. There are various reasons behind the youth attacks in the streets of Paris. Racial segregation and Social-economic injustice are among those explained by political observers. However, Islamic revolution in the country has also influenced these riots. This is due to history of France and her involvement in recruiting and importing youths from African nations during the colonial days.
Racial segregation: As France became increasingly populated, many foreign youths that settled in the country found scarce opportunities. This was due to the slow growth of the French economy, and the imported youths were mainly laborers and not entrepreneurs (TIME, 2014). Job opportunities diminished to the extent that the citizens of foreign backgrounds are discriminated for the few available ones.
Islamic revolution: The country experiences much resistance from Islamic radicals in the general run and governance. This is because a big population of the country is Muslims who often protest of social and economic injustice issues. They argue that their presence and citizenship is not recognized equally as the native French speakers. To some extent, the Islamic youth’s protests are geared to recognize Islamic laws in the country. Although there are other reasons, the above stands to be the major reason behind the riots in France.
Question four:
What is the “School for Terrorism”? Where was it located? Who are its most famous alumni? Use at least one Internet source in addition to the text to answer this question.
Answer
Many people believe that “Madrassa” the name given to the Islamic school could be the school of terrorism. Evidently, there support to these claims. This is because most people that have been considered to be leaders of terrorism have passed through madrassa. Some of the alumni include the late Osama bin Laden and compatriots. Madrassa has been viewed as a center for radicalization that people who attend such schools rise with strong believes of the Jihad (Terrorism & Schools, 2014). This Islamic belief is a major influence in enhancing terrorism acts in the world. Furthermore, terrorism has overwhelmed the Middle East region which is evidently the strong hold of Islamic law and Madrassa School.
Critically thinking, the school of terrorism may be anywhere including your house. This is because what a person sees and perceives in their daily today routines influences their thinking. Although most acts of terrorism are understandable to have been done by people with Islamic notions, terrorism has been part of life in any nation. This includes those nations that have no connection in one way or another to the Muslim world. Therefore, it does not mean that all people that have attended madrassa are terrorists. It is only the regions with high radicalization that expose people with the perceptions and ideologies that influence terrorism actions.
